Loan Forgiveness Programs
Public Service Loan Forgivement (PSLF): Federal loan forgiveness program that includes teachers and audiologists; requires employment for 10 years in a federal, state or local government or a non-profit agency, during which time 120 loan payments are made. After successful completion, the remaining loans are forgiven.
Teacher Loan Forgiveness: Federal loan forgiveness program for teachers; requires completion of five years of full-time teaching in a school district that qualifies for low-income federal funding. Audiologists working in public or non-profit elementary or secondary schools who meet specific criteria may also be eligible.
NIH Loan Repayment Programs: Educational loan repayment for doctoral-level health professionals who seek research careers involving clinical and/or pediatric research.
New Loan Forgiveness for Service in Areas of National Need Program: A Congressional law identifies speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists as professions in national need and therefore eligible to have their student loans forgiven.
